Like strategy games? Fire Emblem Awakening is one of the best games I've played in years.

Plus, I should mention that while the gamepad seems gimmicky, it actually works pretty well for a lot of games - although you'll most likely want to buy a Pro Controller before you play anything too control sensitive like MK8.įor the 3DS, there's soooooooo many good games, it's impossible to choose 2. Sure, both of those have 3DS counterparts, but they play so much better on the WiiU (although Mario Kart 7 and Smash Bros 3DS are both amazingly good games for the handheld). Since it has a smaller screen, any shot you see blown up larger than the XL size usually looks pixilated in comparison.įor the WiiU, (which is totally still really good), the 2 games I'd recommend are Maroi Kart 8 and Smash Bros. Trust me, you hardly notice the pixelated graphics on the 3DS, if at all. 3DS has bigger library, Wii Us library is top heavy. TL, DR - Depends on wher eyou wanna play most. Aside from Smash and Mario Kart - Mario 3D World, Wind Waker, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 1&2, DKC Tropical Freeze and Pikmin 3 are all great, with Splatoon, Xenoblade X, Yoshis Wooly world and Starfox on the way. But I feel the Wii U library, while it is small compared to the 3DS, does offer enough retail games to warrant a purchase.

The biggest downside if you would have to get the console, plus buy some controllers, the gcn adapter if you want to really play smash and the games are more expensive and all that stuff adds up. It simply can not), but it also has a bunch of good indie/downloadable titles (Shovel Knight, The swapper, Affordable space adventures, Child of Light, Stealth Inc 2, to name a few) and a nice collection of VC games that slowly but surely building up nicely. Sure, you know the heavy hitters in Mario Kart 8 and Smash Wii U (btw, don't be fooled into thinking smash 3ds can replace Smash U. That being said, Wii U is so much better than what little credit it gets. My other recommendation would be Bravely default, but they kinda overlap genres, so I would suggest Animal Crossing or a Link Between Worlds.

Not only is the console cheaper, you dont need to buy any peripherals and games are much cheaper If you get it, just make sure you get Fire Emblem Awakening as it is in my opinion the best game of the past 5 years. If you havent had a 3DS, theres so much great games you've missed out, and the New 3DS feels so much better than the old models. It should really come down to how much time you can spend playing at home vs on the go.
